Plagiarism

I promise I will never plagiarize. Plagiarism is defined by taking somebody else's work and passing if off as your own. It is stealing.  There are several reasons why deciding to plagiarize is a horrible decision. It leads to many unseen consequences. First of all, stealing is wrong. We are taught at a very young age that we do not take items that are ours. It can lead to major consequences that are not worth the stolen paper. In a university setting, plagiarism can lead to many punishments. One very rare circumstances is to be allowed to rewrite this paper. If this is the option, do not expect it to ever happen again. This is a once in a life time opportunity.  One of the more popular and better circumstances, surprisingly, is the paper being thrown away and the professor giving a zero for the paper. Though that sounds pretty horrible, it is better then other options. Another consequence, is the failing of the course, which is actually pretty fair considering the person obviously did not care about the class enough to put in some effort. Finally, we have the worst thing that could happen to a college student, the university forcing you to withdrawal or worse expulsion. If one would just take the effort in the beginning to do the assignment then they would never have to go through any of these mind numbing situations. Though these situations do keep me from ever consider plagiarizing, so do my morals and my conscience. First of all I care about my education and do not want to do anything to affect my status here at Clemson University. My parents and I are sharing the cost of paying for the ridiculous out of state tuition. It would not only be a waste of their money now, but it would also be a waste of their money for my high school. And not only would I inadvertently be throwing away their money but also my own. I did not take out student loans for me not to graduate. Also, I know stealing is wrong. I would never be able to cope with the fact that I took the illegal way, because of was too lazy to write a simple paper. I would never want anybody to steal my hard work, therefore I would not want to steal anybody else's. I would be disappointed, angry, upset, and mainly embarrassed. I would be embarrassed to tell my parents and my friends in fear of having to deal with their disappointment. This is what I think truly keeps people from plagiarizing. The fear of disappointing themselves and upsetting their family and friends.

The rhetoric cartoon shows how BP did very little to control the oil spill that occurred last year. The picture shows the significance of the spill, with a little exaggeration. The exaggeration is used to show the reader how apathetic the company was, and how little damage control they did. The ellipsis show how unconcerned BP was with the damage. The mans uninterested look and body language also shows the lack of interest in the spill.

Hi! My name is Lindsay Walker. I was born and raised in Marietta, GA, which is about 10 minutes north of Atlanta. I have an older brother Taylor, who attends Appalachian State in Boone, NC. I grew up swimming and playing soccer. In high school, I was in the drumline and on the swim team and track and field team. Here at Clemson I am in the drumline and also the concert band. My major is Packaging Science, but I am hoping I can switch to nursing.
